// About Me

Hi! I'm Lize, a dynamic, creative, communicative, proactive thinker and doer. Are you interested in working with me or contracting me for a project? Feel free to contact me to discuss the possibilities.
For the past six years, alongside my PhD study I have occupied several positions that have played to my strengths as writer and editor: academic blog editor, blog manager, academic copy editor, translator, and writer. I am specialised in academic blogging and editing and am currently building my expertise in the fields of research communications and social media management.
My PhD research explores how water users in urban areas understand and navigate changes to urban water supply systems. I am particularly interested in how the relation between water users and water changes as water scarcity, shortages, and drought force them to interact differently with water.
I recently co-authored a book titled Bron with Dutch photographer Zindzi Zwietering. The book explores experiences of Cape Town's 2018 water crisis, when the city's water almost ran out. Bron's lessons are applicable to other contexts subjected to the changing availability of water.
I am currently pursuing a DPhil degree in International Development Studies at the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Before that, I obtained an MSc degree in Sustainability Science and Policy from Maastricht University, a BPhil degree in Journalism from Stellenbosch University, and a BA degree in International Studies (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University.
I am currently based in The Hague, the Netherlands.
