vision and mission

I am a scholar-activist and a change agent. I am dedicated to contributing to transformative change through critical reflection, dialogue, research, and communication driven by specific transformative agendas.

I have two strong interests:

1 // Making science communication transformative, and

2 // Transforming the way in which water is governed so that sustainable and equitable water governance and use are achieved.

These two interests may not seem related, but they are both driven by the pursuit of critical transformation agendas not only through research, but of research itself. Transformative science communication focuses on making the research process itself just in equalising and decolonising the researcher-researched relationship, while transformative social change can be enacted through critical research driven by transformative agendas. Of importance is working with actors to co-create knowledge that can be applied directly and in a sustainable manner to enact change.

I am a scientific researcher, editor, writer and communications specialist. Based in the Netherlands, in recent years I have worked as academic blog editor and academic editor while pursuing a PhD in development studies at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam.

I hold a MSc degree in Sustainability Science and Policy (Maastricht University), a BPhil degree in Journalism (Stellenbosch University) and a BA degree in International Studies (cum laude, Stellenbosch University), majoring in Political Science and Mandarin Chinese.

curriculum vitae

I am a well-rounded individual with a wide range of interests. I spend my free time mostly on creative activities, though I am also a fervent reader. I am currently learning how to do leathercrafting, watercolour painting, and knitting. I also love spending time outside in my vegetable garden that I keep with a friend or walking in parks and natural settings with dogs I look after from time to time. I enjoy cooking and baking for friends and family.

I spend much of my free time thinking about life and am currently exploring secular buddhism, deep dreaming, emotional agility, and futures thinking.
