After 11 years in academia, researching the politics of water, urban heat governance, social-ecological systems, and climate resilience, I decided to bring my knowledge out of the university and into the community.

Today, I work with primary school children in Rotterdam and its surroundings as a teaching assistant in nature education. My MSc in Sustainability Science and Policy helps me translate complex research on urban change, climate adaptation, and nature degradation into concrete learning goals and hands-on lessons.

Through this work, I aim to help children, especially those growing up in less privileged city environments, explore the wonders of nature, understand the changes shaping their urban world, and build resilience, care, and agency in responding to these challenges.

I am currently studying at the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences to obtain my accreditation to work as an outdoor educator. The pedagogical and didactic skills I will learn are essential for responsibly teaching young children.

Before turning to teaching, alongside my PhD research, I worked as an academic blog editor, helping academics communicate their research clearly and compellingly through blog articles. I am still occasionally working as an academic text editor for scientific journals and academics.

I am co-author of the book Bron, published in 2021 by The Eriskay Connection.

In my free time, I assist individuals and organisations with creating and maintaining their websites, spend time in my allotment garden and volunteer at a food forest.
